Newcastle-based Atom Technology Solutions has become the first Managed Service Provider in the UK to offer Microsoft’s latest Cloud Migration Factory (CMF) service, marking a major milestone for the rapidly expanding IT firm.
Initially designed for large corporations to facilitate a smooth transition to Microsoft’s Azure cloud platform, the Cloud Migration Factory has now been adapted to cater to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). This development aims to provide smaller organisations with the same robust tools and capabilities traditionally reserved for larger businesses.
Atom Technology Solutions made headlines in September 2024 by completing the UK’s first project using the Cloud Migration Factory service. The project involved migrating a mission-critical infrastructure for one of Atom’s customers to the Azure platform. The successful execution of this project highlights Atom’s technical expertise and its status as a leading Managed Service Provider (MSP) in the UK.
The North East-based company worked in close collaboration with Microsoft to develop a version of the service specifically tailored for Managed Service Providers supporting SMEs. This collaboration further strengthens Atom’s position as a trusted partner of Microsoft and underscores its growing influence in the UK’s IT landscape.
Leon Hughes, Atom’s Technical Director, expressed pride in the company’s accomplishment, emphasising the importance of the partnership with Microsoft. “Atom is all about providing the best possible service to our customers and working in partnership with the world’s leading vendors,” said Hughes. “We are able to achieve this through considerable technical expertise and an unrivalled skillset. Working so closely with Microsoft and their CMF further demonstrates our credentials and enhances our service offering to our clients. We’re thrilled with the confidence Microsoft has shown in us.”
Microsoft has been keen to support smaller businesses as they increasingly adopt cloud solutions, with its Cloud Migration Factory offering a key component of this strategy. The partnership with Atom Technology Solutions is a significant step in making cloud migration more accessible for SMEs.
Alex Luzes, who leads Microsoft’s CSU Migration Factory, praised the collaboration with Atom, noting that their work had been essential in developing this SME-focused version of the CMF. “Via our network of Solutions Provider partners, the Cloud Migration Factory helps to offer customers seamless migrations and rapid ROI from their cloud strategy,” Luzes said. “Working with Atom has given us a head start in how to best support Small to Medium Enterprises with our CMF offering, allowing customers to get the very best from Microsoft’s cloud computing portfolio.”
Atom Technology’s involvement in this pioneering project positions the company as a key player in the North East’s tech sector. Their ability to work hand-in-hand with Microsoft demonstrates their commitment to innovation and their determination to provide customers with cutting-edge solutions that enhance business performance.
As cloud adoption continues to surge across industries, Atom Technology Solutions is poised to lead the way in helping SMEs benefit from the full potential of Microsoft’s Azure platform. With the CMF now within reach for smaller businesses, the firm’s role in transforming the digital landscape looks set to grow even further.
