In a heartwarming display of community spirit, volunteers from the Vantage Foundation spent a fulfilling day with the children at SOS Children’s Villages in the Philippines. The event, part of the foundation’s community outreach initiative, saw volunteers not only deliver much-needed donations but also connect with the children through fun activities, meaningful conversations, and shared experiences.
As part of the initiative, Vantage Foundation provided essential food supplies to the eight houses within the SOS Children’s Village, where groups of 8-10 children live under the care of dedicated caregivers. Additionally, the foundation distributed Vantage-branded notepads and ballpens, aiming to support the children’s education and creativity.
The day began with an orientation session for the volunteers, who were briefed on the programme’s structure and the planned activities. Upon arriving at the village, volunteers were warmly greeted by the children, whose smiles and enthusiasm set the stage for a day full of learning, joy, and shared memories.
The event was designed to engage children of various age groups, fostering self-expression, teamwork, and creative thinking. Younger children, aged 3-7, participated in a Show & Tell session, where they had the opportunity to express themselves through drawings. Meanwhile, children aged 8-12 took part in the Build-A-Village Challenge, which encouraged imaginative thinking and teamwork. For the older children, aged 13-19, a Community Problem-Solving Workshop allowed them to identify challenges in their surroundings and collaborate on innovative solutions. These activities provided not just fun but valuable life skills, empowering the children to dream big and work together towards common goals.
Following the activities, volunteers and children gathered for a shared lunch, where they exchanged stories and forged lasting bonds. The day concluded with a giveaway distribution, ensuring each child received a token of appreciation for their participation in the event.
