Zoetis Inc., the global leader in animal health, is set to debut its latest innovation, the Vetscan OptiCell™, an AI-powered cartridge-based haematology analyser, at the London Vet Show. The new device is designed to deliver lab-quality Complete Blood Count (CBC) analysis at the point of care, providing significant time, cost, and space savings for veterinary teams while enhancing patient outcomes.
The Vetscan OptiCell is part of Zoetis’ continued drive to push the boundaries of veterinary diagnostics. The analyser utilises advanced cell-focusing and AI-powered classification technologies, setting a new standard in CBC analysis with lab-grade precision in a compact, easy-to-use form.
Abhay Nayak, Zoetis’ President of Global Diagnostics, highlighted the analyser’s role within Zoetis’ broader diagnostics offerings. “Vetscan OptiCell complements our existing Vetscan Imagyst® AI Blood Smear, reinforcing the strength of Zoetis’ Virtual Laboratory platform and providing a connected and comprehensive diagnostic solution.”
Dr. Richard Goldstein, Zoetis’ Global Chief Medical Officer, described the importance of this development. “For the first time, AI image recognition is used to characterise blood cells rather than relying on traditional physical parameters. This breakthrough improves efficiency and quality of results, underscoring Zoetis’ commitment to both animal welfare and advancing veterinary medicine.”
Zoetis will showcase the Vetscan OptiCell at stand N50 during the London Vet Show, ExCel London, on 14-15 November, with pre-orders available in the UK later this year.
