The ninth season of the XCMG Apprentice programme has concluded, bringing together 23 participants from XCMG Machinery’s overseas regions, representing 17 countries. The eight-day immersive initiative, hosted by XCMG Machinery (SHE: 000425), offered participants a unique educational experience combining skills training, industry insights, and networking opportunities. The programme is part of XCMG’s ongoing efforts to advance the development of global talent within the construction machinery sector and to foster international cooperation.
The XCMG Apprentice is aligned with the company’s strategic goals of “high-end, intelligent, green, service-oriented, and international” development. This year’s programme, known as the “One XCMG” tournament, encouraged teamwork and collaboration by splitting the participants into five teams who then took part in various activities. These included job skills workshops, factory tours, and hands-on sessions with XCMG’s advanced machinery.
Li Zhi, Deputy General Manager of XCMG Global Business Headquarters, highlighted the event’s significance, stating, “The ‘One XCMG’ concept represents the integration of our global development and talent strategies. XCMG Apprentice is a bridge that links China with the rest of the world, providing a platform for international talent to join our team and contribute to both XCMG’s growth and the wider construction machinery industry.”
Since its launch in 2016, the XCMG Apprentice programme has become a major campaign for XCMG’s international engagement, providing a platform for the company to showcase China’s achievements in advanced manufacturing and foster cultural exchange. XCMG estimates that the programme has reached an audience of 300 million across more than 90 countries, underscoring its impact in promoting Chinese manufacturing capabilities and attracting overseas talent to the industry.
This year’s XCMG Apprentices took part in a series of visits to XCMG’s intelligent Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) facilities, where they observed cutting-edge production techniques and the application of green technology in manufacturing processes. The apprentices also had the opportunity to engage directly with XCMG’s product range, learning about the design and operation of the equipment in hands-on sessions.
Participants have spoken positively of the experience. Adam Alt, a participant from XCMG’s North American region, described the event as a “journey of a lifetime,” saying he particularly enjoyed the activities, factory visits, and the chance to connect with colleagues from other regions.
With a focus on nurturing talent in seven key regions—North America, Europe, Oceania, West Asia, and North Africa among them—XCMG continues to seek skilled candidates in fields such as IT, sales, engineering, and services. To support recruitment efforts, XCMG has been actively posting job opportunities on LinkedIn, encouraging prospective candidates to explore roles with the company as it expands its global footprint.
Looking to the future, XCMG intends to build on the success of the XCMG Apprentice programme by offering more growth and development opportunities for international talent. Through initiatives like these, the company aims to solidify its position as a leader in the global construction machinery market while contributing to the development of industry skills worldwide.
By supporting knowledge exchange and building cross-border connections, XCMG continues to pursue its ambition to drive innovation and sustainability within the sector and to support the ongoing transformation of construction machinery with a global perspective.
