Discovery Education Unveils Autumn Competition to Enhance Maths Skills
Discovery Education has announced the launch of a new competition aimed at boosting children’s mathematics skills during the autumn half-term holiday and beyond. The DoodleLearning Autumn Competition encourages children to practise maths for just a few minutes each day using the award-winning DoodleMaths app, a part of Discovery Education’s suite of educational services.
The DoodleMaths app is designed to be used little and often, making it suitable for use at home or on the go. By integrating the latest advances in educational technology, the app rewards children’s learning with DoodleStars, fostering engagement and building confidence in their maths abilities.
The competition runs from October 28 to November 25, with children using DoodleMaths eligible to win an exclusive goodie pack worth £35. To qualify for the prize, participants must use the app daily and earn 350 DoodleStars within the competition period.

Research conducted by the University of Bath supports the efficacy of DoodleMaths, revealing that children who engage with the app for just 20 minutes a week are four times less likely to experience learning loss compared to their peers. Additional findings indicate that using Doodle ‘little and often’ can double a child’s rate of progression in maths.
Parents looking to involve their children in the competition are encouraged to follow several simple steps:
- Use DoodleMaths ‘Little and Often’: Encourage your child to earn 350 stars in DoodleMaths between October 28 and November 25.
- Check Your Child’s Stars: Monitor your child’s progress and keep an eye out for an email from Doodle upon reaching the 350-star mark.
- Enter the Prize Draw: Complete the prize draw entry form to participate. Ten winners will be randomly selected and contacted via email after November 26. Additionally, all participants who achieve the star target will receive a printable certificate and an exclusive discount for the DoodleShop.
The competition is open to both Doodle subscribers and new users, who can take advantage of a two-week free trial when creating a Doodle account. This initiative aims to encourage children to engage with maths in a fun and interactive way, ultimately helping them improve their skills and confidence during the autumn season.
