Huawei Cloud has introduced its latest Cloud Device solutions at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025, aiming to support carriers as they transition to next-generation mobile networks. The new offerings seek to modernise business models, diversify services, and improve user experience in the mobile internet era.
The company’s Cloud Device platform integrates device-cloud synergy across multiple computing environments, helping carriers address increasing demands for storage and processing power as networks shift from 2G to 5G.
A New Approach to Device-Cloud Synergy
Huawei Cloud’s new suite of products includes:
- KooPhone: A secure and efficient mobile office solution designed for seamless cross-device use.
- KooDrive: An AI-powered knowledge assistant providing secure storage and intelligent content management.
- Cloud STB: A smart home entertainment platform featuring XR fitness and AI-driven somatosensory games.
- Cloud Gaming: A cloud-based gaming service that delivers AAA titles with minimal latency, free from device constraints.
These solutions are underpinned by key technologies, including smart scheduling for quick resource allocation, exclusive full-link device-cloud synergy that reduces latency by 30%, and a Multimodal Tensor Concat large language model (LLM) that enhances secure and efficient natural language interactions.
Global Impact and Adoption
Huawei Cloud Device has already seen widespread adoption. In China, China Mobile has deployed KooPhone, KooDrive, and Cloud STB to serve 860 million individual and home users. The move has resulted in 60 million monthly active users, a 30% increase in traffic, and a 13% rise in average revenue per user (ARPU), while reducing customer churn by 11%.
Beyond China, Cloud Device is making inroads in Africa. In Ethiopia, Huawei has partnered with Ethiopia Telecom to provide cloud-based workspace solutions for government and enterprise users, expanding the B2B and B2C markets.
Driving Business Model Innovation
Huawei Cloud’s solutions also introduce new business models, including:
- Number and Card Convergence: Users can access a range of services through cloud-based number and card packages, including gaming, healthcare, and education.
- Device Convergence: Cloud computing resources can be accessed via multiple devices, including STBs, mobile phones, tablets, and smart home appliances, without requiring hardware upgrades.
- AI Convergence: A cloud-based intelligent operating system ensures a seamless experience across devices and applications.
Huawei Cloud’s Cloud Device solutions are expected to reshape the telecom industry by providing flexible, scalable, and AI-driven innovations for global carriers.
